Lateral State Testing
FIREARMS ASSESSMENT & POPAT
Testing includes Firearms Skill Assessment and Qualifications Appraisal Board (QAB) exam. Candidates must also successfully complete the POPAT exam. Laterals hired onto the Department will only complete the State Trooper Academy. Candidates successfully completing all portions of the testing process will be placed on an 18-month eligibility list which will be used to fill current and future vacancies.
